Grant Readiness Consultation

Thoughtful grant writing and development support for nonprofits, arts organizations, and big ideas.

Service Description

Need funding for a great idea but not sure how to turn that idea into a compelling proposal? I provide independent grant writing and nonprofit development support for organizations seeking thoughtful, strategic, and persuasive funding proposals. My particular areas of expertise include arts and culture, music, education, festivals, community programming, and small nonprofit organizations, though I welcome inquiries from organizations working in other fields. As the founder and Executive-Artistic Director of the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra, I bring more than a decade of hands-on nonprofit leadership experience to my grant writing. I understand that a successful proposal is about much more than good prose: it requires a strong program, a realistic budget, clear goals, an understanding of the funder's priorities, and a compelling explanation of why the work matters. My experience includes foundation grant writing, grant prospect research, program and budget development, major and individual giving, sponsorships, community partnerships, fundraising campaigns, and the cultivation of substantial contributed goods and services. I know what it is like to build ambitious programming with limited resources—and how to communicate that work effectively to potential supporters. Services may include: • Grant prospect research and funding strategy • Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) and Letters of Intent • Foundation grant proposals • Proposal narratives and supporting materials • Grant review, editing, and revision • Budget narratives and project development • Interim and final grant reports • Ongoing grant and development support Every organization and funding opportunity is different, so grant-writing projects are individually scoped and priced according to complexity. New clients are encouraged to begin with a Grant Readiness Consultation so we can discuss your organization, funding goals, timeline, existing materials, and potential opportunities. Grant funding is competitive, and no grant writer can ethically guarantee an award. My job is to help you identify strong opportunities, articulate your organization's work clearly and persuasively, and submit the strongest proposal possible. Have a specific grant in mind? Great. Have a great program but no idea where to look for funding? That's okay, too. Let's figure out what your next step should be.
