Euro Signature Bb Clarinet Mouthpiece
It took a pilgrimage to Europe, meeting players from all backgrounds and styles, to finalize the concept that would become the Euro Signature Bb Mouthpiece. Stepping-out of his comfort zone, Richard Hawkins embraced the larger-than-life mouthpieces that are currently popular among many European Artists. For a big robust sound that is easy to articulate, a proprietary hard-rod rubber was selected for its ability to hold all dynamics with clarity and control, but without the edge that is common in so many large-facing designs. Named for the continent on which it was developed and tested, the Euro Signature Bb Mouthpiece by Hawkins and Backun is worth getting out of your comfort zone for!
"I have really been looking forward to this release. As a player, I find it gratifying to play on a mouthpiece that produces a refined, yet robust and louder, sound without extensive amounts of air and lip pressure. I have designed a mouthpiece that has a significant amount of volume of sound that can be used for orchestral, band, wind ensemble, modern contemporary classical and jazz playing without losing longevity and embouchure control for the player." Llopis Signature Eb Clarinet Mouthpiece
As many clarinetist agree, the Eb Clarinet tends to fit some and not others. While traveling in Europe in late 2023, I met the sensational Spanish Clarinetist, Javier Llopis (pronounced “Yo-Peace”) at his Clarinet Festival on the island of Tenerife, Spain. The ease and beauty that he brings to the Eb Clarinet inspired me to work on one of my bucket list projects: a Signature Mouthpiece that evens-out the instrument in such a way that the altissimo and articulation could be easy, mimicking that of the soprano Bb and A clarinets. Like Javier, this Eb mouthpiece is universally suited to orchestral, chamber, wind ensemble and solo Eb playing.
